Brightening Up The Town
You may have noticed some recent changes in the town centre, from the seating to new flowers. Caldicot Town Team’s contractors have been busy at work.
Over the last few weeks, work has been taking place to brighten up Caldicot town centre. Painting of the street furniture, lampposts, seating, bollards and tree guards has almost been completed. The black add a more contemporary look to the town centre.
Hanging baskets have been fitted on all the lampposts in the town centre, which includes the area at the cross as well as the linkage between Asda and the town centre. The planters, which inject a burst of colour into the town centre are a welcome touch.
None of this work could have been carried out if not for the time and effort put in by volunteers, contractors and local businesses. Caldicot Town Team would like to say a special thank you to the following companies, who have helped make the recent works a success;
- Caldicot Cycles – For their donation of inner tubes for the planters.
- Gemini Plants – For supplying all the plants, and storing the baskets until they could be fitted.
- Country Flowers – For the use of their electricity to charge our cherry picker.
- The Baguette Shop – For the free cups of tea and coffee for the contractors.
- FES Ltd – For their ingenuity and quick turnaround times at very short notice for parts needed for the lamppost baskets.
- MG Tool Hire – For generously donating the use of a cherry picker for the last two days
- KG Garden Services – For working out of hours to ensure the job is completed, before going on annual leave.
Without the help of all these local businesses, the jobs the team undertake would be much harder and much more expensive to put into action, so, Thank You!
The painting of the street furniture will be completed by the end of this week, by contractor Jessie James & Son, with work also being undertaken on the white canopies around the town.
